April Ross

April Ross has won more than one medal at the Olympics. She is among the few female beach volleyball players to have achieved this feat. In Tokyo over the next few days she'll be aiming to net her third medal alongside fellow first-time Olympian Alix Klineman. Ross's aim is to get her first Olympic Gold. At 39, this could be her final chances to secure the Olympic gold. Nevertheless she is confident that the top awards are at hand. Ross told NBC Boston that he believes when they perform at their very top, or even an excellent game, we will win the gold. So I'm going to take a little bit of luck too. Ross, who was born 1982, and lived within Costa Mesa California with her mother and sister, first began competing in sports during her time at Newport Harbor High. She was able to participate across a variety of activities as a student at Newport Harbor High School. Along with playing indoor volleyball, she also played track and basketball as a pre-professional athlete. As a finalist in her sport, she clearly stood out. While in high school she played middle blocker out setter and hitter on a volleyball court as per her school bio. She was named The Gatorade National Circle of Champions Player of the Year in 1999 for her achievements. She also won her the Orange County Athlete of the Awards in 2000. Ross and Klineman are working together since 2017. The reality is that Ross was already a respected participant in the scene of beach volleyball before Klineman and Ross joined forces. It's true that she has played a significant role on the beach scene throughout the years. Indeed, Ross won several tournaments, including one with an iconic volleyball player. From 2007 to 2013, she was teaming with Jennifer Kessy, who is her current coach. Together, Kessy Ross, she was a major force on the international circuit winning one of the biggest titles in the world in 2009. The pair eventually captured one silver medal in the 2012 Olympic Games in London. They were beaten out for the gold medal by the legendary duo consisting of Misty June-Treanor and Kerri Walsh (Jennings). Ross Jennings became Walsh Jennings partner in fate as Maytreanor resigned. In 2016, the pair won bronze in the Rio Olympics for beach volleyball. Ross participated in the Trojans from USC during the years of college after graduating from in high school. The time she spent at USC was awe-inspiring. She was an All-American and Pac-10 freshman of the year in the year 2000. Additionally, she assisted her Trojans reach the Final Four. Her personal tragedy was a crushing defeat in her sophomore year however she was able to return as an All-American. In her last two years she led the Trojans on a climb and took home consecutive national championships. She was a fantastic volleyball player, winning the Honda Sports Award in 2003-04 as the top female college volleyball player. Ross was an International Relations major at USC. Margie Ross didn't see her daughter rise to the top in beach volleyball. As of 2001, when Ross was in her sophomore year on the campus of USC her mother passed away from breast cancer. Ross is still awed by her mother who died. Margie has always been a source of inspiration to her both at and off the beaches.
