Selena
She was a musician, performer and designer who broke through obstacles in the field. The dual nature of her role as an Mexican American singer was conventional and modern. She helped bring Tejano to mainstream fame with her innovative approach. Much like when an incredibly bright and charming star dies way too soon the tragic loss of her life shattered her growing profile. People mourned the entire extent of its untapped potential. The result is that fans are enthused over the years to dig in their heels even harder working to ensure her successes are not forgotten. Her death in a shooting triggered emotion in Latino community that is likened with Elvis Presley, and John Lennon. A hugely popular performer within Latino communities throughout North America her music crossed cultural boundaries to touch people young and old alike. Selena might have been described by some as an Latina Madonna, however she's still an excellent character model. Selena's off-stage family values and her participation in AIDS awareness campaigns make her a good example.
