Winona-Ryder

Winona Ryder is the professionally-known name of Winona Laura Hoowitz. She was birthed within Winona Minnesota. Parents of Winona Ryder named her for the town she grew up in. The father of her Michel Horowitz and her mother Cynthia Palmer were authors and editors. Ryder believes she is Jewish, is descended from Ryder's Jewish father. The actress is the younger sister of Uria who is half-sister to Jubal & Sunyata. Ryder's parents relocated her and her siblings into Mendocino County California when Ryder reached seven. There they didn't have electricity. Ryder read a lot due to the lack of television. Ryder began taking acting lessons in the American Conservatory Theatre in 1983 at the age of twelve years old. She landed her debut role on the big screen in 1986 when she was 15 years young. Ryder was bullied throughout high school. Ryder hoped her career as an actor would be able to bring about change. Unfortunately that didn't come to pass. She continued to pursue her goals. In 1988, she got her big break in Tim Burton's Beetlejuice. Ryder played parts that proved successful in various films. In 1993, she was awarded an Academy Prize for The Age of Innocence.
